Disc golf store

Postby PrestigeWorldwide » Mon Jul 19, 2010 8:46 pm

Is there a such thing in MD? Just came from a store with 40,000 + discs in stock, and have yet to see anything along those lines in MD. Seems like sporting goods stores are the only option. Am I wrong?

Yeah, most guys tend to stay local and chat it up on this bored. Speaking of which I am considering upgrading the board software once again and going back to a single board that still has all the other features. Jacky is reviewing it now. It's called vbulletin. costs a couple hundred bucks, but looks worth it. a couple message boards i frequent use it and i like it alot.

Yeah man, spent over 200 bucks on some new plastic. Couldnt miss that chance seeing as though marylands only option for discs is the back of a creeper van...

So turbo next time I have a simple question such as the one I posed above, I should create a WHOLE new thread? So that way this dead forum seems like it has some activity? Wish they had a smiley with the word "dick" with an arrow pointing up... oh so appropriate for your responseS.

I simply suggested the other forum cause this one gets less action than my dead grandma, and now I see the total difference in peoples (turbo in specific) attitudes towards fellow players.... (midwest vs murder capital of the world) Thanks turbo for going down in my book as the first dick of a disc golfer I've met.

Yes, isn't it? (I won't attempt to explain humor...)

 What if I'd said something really bad?

I guess, in deference to a MD-Discgolf board newbie, it could be clarified that threads of a general nature (e.g., where to buy discs in Maryland) would be better-initiated under the General Discussion topic, not the Druid Hill Course topic.

[Btw, I have been a member of the DiscGolfersR.Us website for some time, and it's a fine site, but it can't, as a national-level website, mine to the local info level required for local MD disc golfers. Also, it doesn't have smilies. ]

Actually Disc Outiftters (formerly Discover Outdoor Fitness) is run by two local Disc Golfers, Joel and Brian. They have a mobile shop (they use a trailer, not a van  ) and can usually be found at the Rockburn course. See their website here: http://www.discoveroutdoorfitness.com/ for mobile shop schedule and ordering info. These guys ROC! They put on tournaments, help sponser tournaments, raise funds for course improvement projects and are all around GREAT guys. We love to throw business their way around here. While they may not have 40,000 discs, they are very good at helping you find what you want and you can even test fly sample dics before you buy.

Now, for starters this is the interwebs and interpreting humor/sarcasm can be difficult. I am sure Turbo was being just a bit sarcastic with his off topic response. If you have not lived out this way for very long you should come to realize that people tend to have a VERY sarcastic sense of humor.

I must say though that this is a bit of the pot and kettle, no? I mean, coming on the board and insulting it and the people on it, then calling someone else a dick...You are not doing too much to show how the midwest attitude is any different.

I interpreted the "off topic" to be directed at Evil, who was using the thread to plug the new bored vendor being considered; the "General Information" section would have been more appropriate.
And, Prestige, over the years we've seen a number of carpetbaggers post who have only their profit in mind, and see a new disc board as a mere buisness opportunity (for them). We've tried to direct local money to local golfers who are a part of the community, who we know, compete with, and trust to serve the greater needs of disc golf in Maryland.
Please feel free to stop at one of the many league nights, and get to know the locals before you blast indiscriminately.
Torbot is not, in fact, a dick, and many players around here (who are less borderline  ), who you don't know from Adam, are also not.
Wagler, better hang back for a while.

I guess I am in fact a "Dick"

And as the saying goes, my board and i'll post where i want to!

My guess is the guy just posted in the forum for the course he is closest to. Dude, head up to triples on Thursday nites at druid during the summer. I think you will see that there are alot of cool people up there is you don't count me and gawler. Our forum is a bit slower cause were mostly just local, and our disc guys only have 10,000 discs instead of 40,000, but MD is a great place to be, and we play almost year round here.
