Newbie at DG & Trash on Course

Postby slipped_disc » Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:55 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to disc golf and to Scarboro. I'm 46 and live in Forest Hill. Practiced one day last week and played my first round with my two kids and shot an 84 on Sunday. I went solo Tuesday afternoon and got a 74! I'm hoping to shave more off my round next time. I enjoyed the hike and the course is very nice. Met a group of tag players Sunday morning and a nice guy from DuClaw (exec chef). I obviously need to work on distance with drivers and accuracy with mid-ranges to get into some of those wooded green areas. Alot of fun!

I did notice some trash at some of the holes and will bring a trash bag next time I go alone and help pick some of it up. I don't think it blew over from the land fill!

best regards all,

Dave

First off, welcome to the great sport of disc golf. I usually play tags on Sundays but missed the last one, or I prob would of met you too. We try as hard as we can to keep the course trash free, but it seems to be a neverending battle. Some just have no repsect I guess. Any help we get cleaning up is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Greetings Dave,

As Natural said thanks for the help with picking up trash. A lot of us try and pick up a few peices everytime we play but well you know some people are... well I'll leave that to interpretation. Anyways welcome to Scarboro! I may make the recomendation that if you wanna try and improve your game I may recomend the random doubles. That way less pressure to make an awesome shot, don't have to kill yourself if you throw it in a bad spot, and always chances to try different types of shots you might not typically try in a solo situation. Plus you get to meet the crew and we got enough disc around that you can try out lots of different things that they recomend or suggest (disc, style of grip, type of throws, even the copyrighted "Josh routes"). It's two bucks to get in but I promise you get 2 bucks of entertainment at least watching/listening to the crew  Check out the web page or Doubles thread for most up to date info. And don't forget we got glow in the dark comming up soon!

Not very nice to point out our course's imperfections, it brings us all down so. Seriously though, welcome to disc golf and give the litterers what for! :D
